Bankruptcy Statutes, Rules, and Forms

Federal statutes, official bankruptcy forms, and numerous federal and local rules govern the bankruptcy process. If a debtor files a bankruptcy case without an attorney, the debtor must abide by the statutes, use the official forms, follow the rules, and utilize the sample documents provided in the appendices to the local rules.

United States Code. Title 11 is specific to bankruptcy. Some other titles also contain relevant statutes, such as Title 18, which governs bankruptcy fraud, and Title 28, which governs venue and the organization of the bankruptcy court.
